• Brisbane's $245k ruckman Jamie Charman will have an ankle reconstruction and subsequently has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Charman's been battling the injury since Round 4. "I tried to run on Thursday and it just didn't pull up as we would have liked," Charman said. "It's been eight weeks and I feel now I may have been delaying the inevitable, it is disappointing but at least this way it will be right for next season."

• Adelaide have admitted $374k forward Brett Burton is almost ready for a return to footy after a long layoff with a serious knee injury. Reid said, "Brett's just about ready to go.
