Around The Grounds

  • Popular Geelong gun $435k midfielder Jimmy Bartel will have to prove his fitness this week after aggravating soreness during the Cats' loss in Brisbane on Saturday. Bartel ran into the goal post in the match but is expected to be okay to face Melbourne in Round 16.
  • Brisbane Lions $327k defender Josh Drummond has admitted his Q4 benchtime in the win over Geelong was only precautionary. Drummond, just back from a calf injury, said, "I was cramping up pretty bad so I wasn’t much good being out there. Lucky we had a bit of a lead so I could take it a bit easy."
  • Melbourne have confirmed $250k defender Daniel Bell will have scans on Monday on the AC joint injury he suffered in the Dees clash with Port Adelaide today.
