DT Round 14 Teams

The Round 14 teams are in folks, and the big news is there's still no Dean Cox for West Coast, nor is there Josh Drummond at Brisbane. Big problems that for many DT coaches. Plenty of forwards out too in Matt Pavlich, Daniel Giansiracusa and Taylor Walker while some good news is Melbourne's Liam Jurrah will get a third game to burst his bubble.

Collingwood v Essendon, Friday night, MCG

Leon Davis, Scott Pendlebury

Sydney Swans

Ins:
Luke Ablett, Craig Bolton, Nick Malceski, Jarrad McVeigh, Mike Pyke
Outs: Barry Hall (susp), Kristian Thornton
Big bad Barry Hall is the big exclusion after suspension, but the return of a number of senior players boosts the Swans but expect Bolton and McVeigh to get a game. $75k ruck Pyke is a popular DT player with 28,000 coaches owning him, but he probably won't play.

St Kilda
Ins:
Raphael Clarke, Robert Eddy, James Gwilt, Luke Miles
Outs: Max Hudghton (ankle)
Hudghton's injury still can't force $145k defender Matt Maguire into the Saints side. Not sure who'll come in for the Saints, but Gwilt may considering his like-for-likeness with Hudghton.

$86k forward Hogan is named in the 25 yet again, but it's doubtful he'll get the nod against the league leading Sainters. Stokes gets a senior reprieve along with Wojcinski.

Fremantle
Ins:
Ryan Murphy, Adam Campbell, Kepler Bradley, Clayton Hinkley, Daniel Gilmore
Outs: Matthew Pavlich (calf), Dean Solomon (club susp)
Some rather surprising inclusions this week by the Dockers with a few mid-20s lads included. Gilmore's been in great WAFL form. Popular $86k forward Hayden Ballantyne gets another run, while there's no sign of Clancee Pearce or Michael Walters. Antoni Grover is picked despite being a doubt with injury.

B: Greg Broughton, Chris Tarrant, Nic Suban
HB: Matt de Boer, Luke McPharlin, Paul Duffield
C: Brett Peake, Paul Hasleby, Clayton Hinkley
HF: Stephen Hill, Scott Thornton, Andrew Foster
F: Hayden Ballantyne, Des Headland, Zac Clarke

Carlton
Ins: Joe Anderson, Greg Bentley, Cameron Cloke, Jeff Garlett, Chris Johnson, Bret Thornton, Jordan Russell, Chris Yarran
Outs: Paul Bower (injured), Jordan Bannister, Steven Browne, Nick Stevens, Heath Scotland (omitted)
It's all happening with the Bluebaggers this week, with plenty of changes including the axing of prominent midfield pair $332k Stevens and $339k Scotland. That opens up opportunities for many, but it's hard to say who'll come in. Fevola is selected after finger surgery last weekend.

Mark Austin, Michael Jamison, Aaron Joseph

Drummond May Miss Another

Brisbane's popular $327k defender Josh Drummond may frustrate DT coaches around the country and miss the Lions' clash with Port on Saturday.

Drummond injured his calf in Round 11 and hasn't played since with Brisbane today acknowledging they were taking no risks with the damaging defender.

Lions assistant coach Justin Leppitsch said, "You've got to be very careful with injuries now, particularly with soft-tissue injuries.

"Another four weeks on the sidelines really puts back potential September participation.

"We're very mindful with him, he's got a bit of a history with ongoing injury, so we've just got to manage him very carefully."

Around The Grounds

  • Collingwood's $455k gun midfielder Scott Pendlebury could make a shock return for the Pies this Friday against Essendon after a medial ligament strain. Pies coach Mick Malthouse said on Thursday, “He went well with the fitness test, now it’s up to the medical staff. We will not take chances... but if it is right I can’t see any reason why the player doesn’t play.” Pendlebury is owned by just over 18,000 DT coaches.
  • Essendon have rated $288k def/forward Adam McPhee a good chance to face Collingwood after a corked calf. Bombers assistant coach Scott Camporeale encouragingly said, "He's got a pretty good record against (Travis) Cloke when we've played previously - he trained fully on Tuesday and he'll have another fitness test today as well, just to make sure he's cherry ripe, ready to go."
  • North Melbourne's $309k midfielder Daniel Wells looks set for more time on the sidelines with a niggling groin problem probably keeping him out for another two weeks. Kangas caretaker coach Darren Crocker said, “We just want to make sure that when we bring Daniel back, he is 100 per cent ready to go.” Wells hasn't played since Round 11.
  • Essendon's $378k midfielder Jobe Watson is a surprise chance to play the Magpies on Friday after an ankle problem. Camporeale said, "He's recovered pretty well, pretty quickly, so we'll give him a test this morning and we'll weigh it up after that.” It still looks unlikely though, he'll return just yet.
